Someone’s been killing off deer shifters just across Bear Mountain’s county line, where the neighboring Indian reservation and the river meet. Most in the den agree that it looks like one of their own is to blame. Bear shifter Magnus joins with the rez’s sheriff to help find the culprit.
Magnus could’ve had an easier time of it if one deer shifter didn’t drive him to distraction. He knows his mate the minute he lays eyes on the male. Finding the male is bittersweet. It brings up memories of the brother bear Magnus lost years before.
Like many of his herd, Tobias is weary of the bear shifters across the river. He, too, senses the draw toward Magnus, but he tries to ignore the feelings. Deer shifters aren’t known for their monogamy or mating for life and he doesn’t see a reason to change his whole life for the bear.
When Toby is attacked, Magnus saves his mate just in time—and just in time to see the predator causing all the chaos.
International bestselling MM romance author Kelex lives in Hampton Roads, Virginia with her twenty-something slacker kidult and two senior grandpups.
When not being a pain in her daughter’s ass or writing under various pen names, she also loves to create stained glass, paint, crochet, bake gorgeous breads, and host game night with all her kiddos, be they born or adopted.
YAY! I was hoping she would involve the deer shifters into this series, and I just loved the way she did it. I really enjoy the continuation of the overall plot, how each book builds upon previous events and moves things along. And I loved Toby, and him with Magnus and Rowan was just sizzling and super sexy. I also liked that we got to see a bit about how the bears find out who their brother bear is.
All in all, this is one of my favorite paranormal series going on right now, and I can't wait for more!
10%. i have tried to read 4 other books besides the first 2 from this series and NONE of them were to my liking. So unfortunately, i have to stop with this series. The first 2 stories didn't have any romantic relationship between the bears and that's why i loved reading it.
But every subsequent ones have bears in a relationship, "falling" for their human/omega mate. Every bear is partnered with another in this world. And this couple finds a 3rd as their mate. i would've ignored and tried if there wasn't on page jealousy one of the bears felt while the other became flimsy with the 'mate.' So that feels like cheating to me and i'm not okay with that.
And in this one specifically, the bear says he has kissed his "brother bear" (which just means his bear partner), which made the deer shifter mate jealous. It's why the deer had probably rejected the bear but i didn't stick around to find out.
Only in the first 2 books were there no visible relationship b/w the bear, besides friendship and brotherhood and no jealousy. i mean Jared was jealous but it read as- he was jealous that only Royce was touching Carson and he wanted to touch the latter too.
I love the direction this series is taking. What we are learning and what may be ahead are so exciting to me. Watching this world created get more fleshed out has been as much a pleasure as the mates getting together. Unique characters in stories filled with love, intrigue, passion, and suspense. Each book making the journey that much more enjoyable. Man I want to adopt Rowan so bad but I think he's got that covered.

I’m going to come right out and start this review by saying that this is my favorite book in the Bear Mountain series so far. Kelex has done a fantastic job with this installment. The character of Rowan tore at my heartstrings. I felt so bad for him. Dare I say I almost got teary eyed at one point?
Enough spoilers. A Stag for Two Bears continues the story we’ve been following along with during the first five books of the series, but now we shift focus slightly to also include the deer shifters on the neighboring Indian reservation. As we discovered in previous books, someone has been murdering deer shifters. It looks like a bear, smells like a bear, and isn’t an actual bear because the murder victims are torn apart but not eaten, so therefore it has to be a bear shifter. But who is the murderer?
Magnus is still helping the sheriff from the reservation try to track down the culprit. Only problem? Tobias. A hot little stag deer shifter. Bears don’t mate with deer…who are known to go more for orgies than monogamy. So why is Magnus so drawn to Tobias, and vice versa?
This installment moves quickly, tying up some loose ends, and ending with one loose end still not having been solved. I loved the book, as I have all of them in this series (with that one exception which we won’t talk about here!)
I recommend you pick up Kelex’s Bear Mountain series. I’d recommend reading them in order though. If you skip directly to this installment you won’t have the background on the whole cast of characters. If you do read them…I’m sure you’ll be sitting there waiting for the next installment as anxiously as I will be!
This was another great addition to the series! I love the fact that we get to see others from previous books in here as well. The story in this one is both beautiful and sad due to who ends up being the one doing the killing and his connection to both the main characters in this. The love story between Magnus and Tobias and their other mate, like usual is not an easy thing. Fear, forgiveness and mistrust along with fighting what Tobias feels for Magnus and then how Tobias learns to trust their other mate is not easy and makes this story intriguing and hard to put down. I was rooting for them, cursing the evil that was causing the mistrust of all bear shifters but at the same time I knew they would make it and bring two groups closer together when fighting for what Fate has put together. Great story. I highly recommend this book!
I love these Bears I love this series!!!! Rowan, what a heartbreaking journey he was made to go through. His story broke my heart. But with the love of his brother bear, Toby, and forgiveness from all worlds, he was able to find alot of love, a little peace, and he started to live the life his was meant to have..... this was amazing. I really enjoyed this story! As I've stated before, these are not stand-alones and neither is this one, as they build upon each other! I've loved the idea of Bear Mountain and now it's taken a different turn. I think it's a turn in the right direction! It will be interesting to see what happens next!
I can't imagine the horror that Rowan must feel after reading this book. Not only what he was forced to do against the herd, but he was also forced to enforce slavery on all of the omegas under Carron's thumb. For someone like him, that must be a living nightmare - and I was a bit surprised that we didn't see more of that in his sorrow.
