I chose to read the poem Cold Outside.

personal reaction- I really enjoyed this poem because it didn't just focus on the season of winter, but instead it focused more on the type of clothing that should be worn during this season.Even though the poem is pretty short, i believe it will be beneficial to young students on teaching them appropriate clothing for certain seasons and weather. This would be a great book to read to young students, kindergarten or younger. I also really enjoyed the illustration of the poem. It took up the whole page and had the writing overlapping the image. It is bold and bright to drag in the readers attention.

purpose/use in the classroom- This poem would be prefect for younger students, kindergarten or younger. This poem would fit in perfectly when discussing a unit on winter or even safety. When discussing a winter unit, students will be able to learn what is appropriate clothing and what should be worn during different seasons. This book could also be a great read aloud when discussing safety. The clothing one wears is incorporated with safety. The vocabulary used in the poem is straight forward, for it focuses specifically on winter clothing children would already be familiar with, coat, boots, fur, mitten, etc. This will allow students to completely understand what is being discussed in the poem. Overall i think this is a great poem that can get students to start thinking about the different seasons and how each of the seasons differ, especially when it comes to the clothing worn during each.
