Fly Fishing Pacific City: Ocean, Estuary, and River Perspectives

Rate this book
Pacific City is like a dozen Oregon ports where the fly rod angler can find spectacular fishing and very little crowding. Between dory fishing in the ocean, and small boat. fishing in the estuary and river, people can find great fly fishing close-by throughout nearly every month of the year.

Every Oregon estuary and the ocean offshore are wonderful places to go fly fishing, but generally, you will find few other fly anglers there, mostly because of the myth that fly fishing these waters is both difficult and is a waste of time. But once you give fly fishing an honest try in salty waters, you'll realize that this myths is a bunch of Hooey.

TV personality Blair Wiggins has shown the world that fishing with a "Buggy Whip" in saltwater is both fun and effective. My own journey learning to fly fishing the ocean was guided by my friends Jack and John Harrel — they operate the guide service Pacific City Fly Fishing.

Sure enough , my friends taught me that fly fishing is a great way to catch Albacore, Blue Sharks, Chinook salmon, Silver Salmon, Ling Cod, and Sea Bass.

I assure you, if I can do it, so can you .

Most of saltwater and estuary fishing requires a boat, true enough , but many people have friends who have boats —they are looking for company when they fish—so you don't always need to own your own seagoing vessel to fly fish in saltwater. A small but growing number of ocean and estuary fly fishing guides are also making it possible for people to experience this adventure for the first time.

Inside the cover of this book , you'll find recommendations for tackle, tactics, and perhaps a few fishing stories. You will also find a chart listing the best time of year to fly fish for each species on the coast.

Welcome, I hope you enjoy this little book and find some encouraging ideas here. I sincerely believe that anyone who charters a dory fishing trip with a Captain who specializes in fly fishing will have great fun. The experience of launching a dory boat from the beach to fly fish in the ocean is an exciting and unique experience.

Please I encourage anyone who buys this or any paperback book from Amazon to go to Office Depot, staples, or KINKOS — to get the book spiral bound . This makes it possible to lay the book flat and will prevent it from getting creased and wrinkled. Thanks very much for your kind support.
