509ers

Rate this book
Telephone area code 509 includes the most geography and the fewest inhabitants in Washington State. A lot of folks living in that area refer to themselves as 509ers and the big city people from western Washington as 206ers or 425ers. The body of Cheryl Collins, still warm, is discovered in a ditch along a rural road near the farming community of Cariboo by two ranch hands returning home after a night on the town. Hal Halverson, an elderly sheriff's detective, utilizes officers from Adams and Grant County as well as Moses Lake and Seattle, and his own unique methods to find and question witnesses and suspects as the trail twists and turns through both sides of the state. Attorney Robert Langley from high end, high tech area code 425, is involved with all of the murder suspects in one way or another and finally ends up defending the murderer in the sometimes hostile small town court.
