This is a great daily reader for people who have a family member with an addiction problem. It has a reading for everyday of the year. I read this book plus One Day At A Time and Hope for Today every day. This book refers to a higher power, who I choose to call God, as someone who will help you, give you strength etc. I would refer these books to anyone who is dealing with a family member who has an addiction problem!
There are few books other than religious ones that one still finds useful on a daily basis after 25 years. This is one of them. If someone's drinking has affected your life, this book will help 'restore you to sanity.'
This is the best daily reader for Alanon recovery that I have come across. Yes, it's a bit dated at this point, but the quotes included at the end of each daily entry effectively round out their value with historical, cultural, and universal significance that make them timeless.
Love to wake up and read this book to get some peace and guidance for the day as well as my life. Speaks to me in a special way and makes me a better person.
