Lerner Publications and the A&E Television Networks have teamed up to create Biography for young readers. With highly accessible text and engaging photographs, this engrossing collection offers in-depth profiles of some of the world's most interesting figures. Tiger Woods accomplished what many golf fans thought was nearly impossible by winning four major titles in a row. That extraordinary feat--dubbed a Tiger Slam--was even more amazing considering that Tiger was just twenty-five years old when he accomplished it. A golf prodigy, he began playing when he was nine months old. In the nearly all-white world of men's professional golf, Tiger has reached a level of success rarely seen--let alone by a man whose heritage includes African American, Native American, and Asian roots.

Tiger Woods
by Jeremy Roberts
Non-Fiction Biography
112 pages

Tiger Woods was born on December 30th, 1975 in Cypress, Claifornia. He is 37 right now and he has won and played in many tournaments. He plays professional golf(PGA) and is setting records that are truly amazing. His real name is Eldrick Tont Woods. He is married to Elin and have 2 kids, Charlie and Sam. He started playing golf when he was a kid and then progressed into his life now he a pro. He enrolled at Stanford in the fall of 1994 under a golf scholarship. He was the highest-paid athlete in the world for a few years. He has been awarded PGA Player of the Year a record ten times which is impressive. He is the youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam, and the youngest and fastest to win 50 tournaments on tour. Tiger turned professional in 1996, and by April 1997 he had already won his first major, the 1997 Masters. He has more career major wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer. Tiger signed deals with Nike and Titleist and now Nike sponsors him. Tiger Woods won many awards, way to many to list them in a paragraph.

I really liked this book for many reasons. First, obviously it is about golf. Thats why I chose this book. I play golf, actually I played golf for Karrer in the fall. I even went to the Memorial Tournament that takes place in Dublin every single year. I saw many famous golfers including Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Vijay Singh, Spencer Levine and many more. One thing that was so awesome is that Spencer Levine was in the lead in the 2 day and he game my his hat signed! I also got signitures from all the people I named up there and a few more. I also saw Tiger Woods make the birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the tournament! I think I was really lucky to have gone throught this experience. Second, it was about Tiger Woods. Ever since I started liking golf, around 9 years old, I always used to watch Tiger on TV. My dad used to play golf just for fun. I stated to like golf so my dad bought me a set. It is not very good but atleaast I can play. Before I made the Karrer team, I used to play golf with my dad and his friends and I used to win, sometimes. Now I can easily beat my dad with all the practice I have had. Third, it had all the tournament since he had started playing till almost current. 6 of the 112 pages were table showing different staistics and score and many other stuff. It also showed how much he got for each tournament he won. One tounament that he won, the 1997 Masters, he won his cah prize of $486,000! The thing about golf is, even if you lose you still get money. For instance, Tiger played in 1997 PGA Championship and came up in 29 place out of 32 players. Even though he didn't do so good, he still got $13,625. I think it is ridiculous that even if you lose, you still get money. I think any one who like golf and Tiger Wood will like this book. It has all the information you need.

The book, Tiger Woods, by Jeremy Roberts, is a very informational book. It talked about Tiger Woods life and his journey to playing professional golf. The book starts off in Cypress, California, the place where Tiger Woods was born. It then talks about his early childhood and his schooling. His parents, Earl Woods and Kultida Woods, play an important role in his life.
The book went into great detail to explain the things that happened in Tiger Woods life. The author used descriptive words and imagery to put the reader in Tiger Woods shoes. He went through various problems and overcame many obstacles, which resulted in him playing professional golf at a very young age.
This book entertained me because of all of the information that I didn't know about Tiger Woods. I enjoyed learning about his life because I didn't know much about him. The book met my expectations and even surpassed them because I wasn't expecting to learn so much about him, but I am glad that I did because I now know more about another person in this world. The author made the right choices in the book because I enjoyed reading it and if I didn't, then the author would have made wrong choices.
Overall, I would recommend this book to my friends and even to the public because this book was very information. The ideal person to read this book is a person who likes reading about biographies and learning about other peoples lives. Since, I finished reading this book, I will now read a basketball book to see if I like it or not. If I like it then I will continue to read sports book, but if I don't, then I will read more books like this one about Tiger Woods.

Another great biography read for intermediate (I) ages. Great illustrations of the young Tiger. I gave this book a high rating because I think it is set up wonderfully and gives a complete meaning to how hard work and dedication can truly pay off. It is inspiring for young readers to read and learn about how one's greatest aspirations can truly come true if you put your mind to it! I will be reading this to my little girl...she seems to be following in her daddy's footsteps of his love of golf. FORE!

This books it a story about Tiger Woods and the different accomplishments he made in his life. This book also talks about how Tiger "broke" the color barrier by becoming a very famous African American golfer in a sport dominated by white people. This book is good because it can show kids not to give up on your dream no matter what your background is.
