It’s always great to find a local author to support—and even better when the book is great read as well! This is a wonderfully fun and beautifully written period romance, but with a little more zing than Jane Austen. Florence is due to marry a great bore, but rather shockingly is kidnapped and has to fend off the attentions of a Highwayman… or is he? The characters are well developed and the story trots along at a good pace with humour and charm. Rigley is based in Derbyshire and a love for nature and our great countryside is also encapsulated in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and have since started Nancie—which feels a little darker so far...

Florence is on her way to visit her aunt, when her carriage is waylaid by a handsome rogue whom she thinks is out to rob her. But no. His aim is to kidnap her! I found this novel to be a very pleasant read. Ms. Rigley has remained true to the times in speech, manners, and general behavior within that time period. Very often back then young ladies were obliged to marry for the financial sake of her family, but rarely, if ever, was it a true love match. Florence is faced with such a predicament, but will she succumb to her obligation? With a wastrel brother, a flighty mother, a sassy middle sister, and a curious younger one all offering advice, it seems so..... if only she could stop accidentally running into the rogue himself!
