(I read this book on my Kindle, NOT Hardcover. There was not a choice for the Kindle edition) I LOVED Paul's book! I have wanted to be a teacher for a while, but life got in my way.
It saddened me to see what our educators have to face with difficult students AND parents. The parents want to be involved in their students education, but do not want to have interaction with the instructors. No instructor should have to go through what Paul went through.
Thank you, Paul, for writing this book!! It gave me insight to what I should have done differently as a parent and what I did right. I was proud to be part of my children's band experiences. One child in color guard and the other in the marching band. They loved their experiences with their band teachers. My oldest (c/o 2007) still quotes things from her band teacher and my youngest (c/o 2014) still talks about hers as well. Their band teachers were very influential in their lives and I believe that they are better people BECAUSE of band!
If you have not thought of picking up this book, pick it up! Just remember that it is NOT written by someone that writes books for a profession (sorry Paul). It is written by a man that has had real life struggles in his role as a teacher. You may want to have some tissues next to you when you read this as his struggles will tug your heartstrings.
