Hunter has written a series of books about his experiences as a police officer. The first one I read many years ago was called "There Was Blood On the Snow". I've always been fascinated with police work and it was a compelling read.

This book was no different. It's a compelling read, albeit a bit dated. True, some of the stories don't quite land, but it's still an insightful glimpse into life as a cop. The story about the ghosts is particularly interesting and the one about the death of a fellow officer is pretty moving.

The Moon Is Always Full by David Hunter (Rutledge Hill Press 1998)(Biography). Police stories told by a former cop from a small Southern city. This is barely – and I mean by a hairsbreadth – a step above the rankest type of vanity publication. My rating: 5.5/10, finished 2004.

My son is a police officer, and he loves this book. I read it and then gave it to him, and he's shared it with all his cop friends. they like the authenticity.

Very funny non-fiction book about a cop whose rural Tennesee beat contains some real characters.
