Spirituality meets everyday life, and the believer finds a more holistic sense of encounter with the divine. Elizabeth Dreyer puts ordinary human experience at the heart of the mystery of God, which unfolds in being and doing. Each flowering is unique, though also part of a community experience. Tradition has a part in the journey, too. Dreyer explores the roles that nature, work, relationships and sexuality play in God-consciousness, and looks to simplicity and aging gracefully as forms of everyday asceticism in the modern world. Her writing is clear and inviting:
"Meaning ... is the product of individuals in community, using their powers of intelligence and freedom in love."
"The primary theater of the spiritual life is ordinary, worldly existence."
This is a wonderful and accessible book about spirituality for everyone.
