Play is the language that babies know best. Here, readers will find over 300 games to play with infants from one week to eighteen months old. Divided into games that stimulate cognitive, language, emotional, and social development, this book will delight parents and babies as it helps foster mental and physical growth. Written by an internationally recognized authority on brain games for babies No other book on infant play has as many games or is as effective in linking games with their mental and physical health benefits Focused on helping parents teach their babies how to learn, rather than pushing them beyond their developmental level
In standard "Idiot's Guide" fashion, this one follows the chapter-by-chapter format of
- summarizing a basic topic - sparsely outlining some details - re-summarizing the topic
and then flooding the remaining pages with far too many examples to fully remember, so you'll have to keep it on your shelf for future reference if you hope to make the most of this collection. Also, they play pretty loose with the definition of game and are generously including things like the "Making Mouth Noises Game" and the "Label Body Parts with Baby Game" or the "Sing What You're Doing Game". These activities are labeled with recommended ages (3+ months, 6+ months, 9-12 months, etc) and parents should be aware that there are very few "from birth" suggestions, so this isn't a title you need to check out immediately.
