From the book:
The Land Endures is a joyous novel that transports us to the simple country life where each year the land gives forth its bounty to those who struggle to work it. It's a timeles tale of people and nature.

A fine sequel to Apple Tree Lean Down. I was caught up in the ups and downs of farming and the interesting characters. Continued story full of life, love, death etc...

Really enjoyed this book, wanted it to go on and to find out more about the characters. Interesting social history aspect. I will have to catch up on the other books in the series

Another wonderful story in the Apple Tree Lean Down series.

It is now after WW1 and the book deals with the difficult times, prices for corn have plummeted and farm labourers' wages are being cut. Sadly some workers lose their jobs which also means that they lose their homes, cottages which were tied to their jobs. Many of these men had served in the war and are now wondering why their sacrifice has not even been worth a job. Obviously at this time there was no unemployment benefit.

Some farmers are still spending on expensive horses for hunting and other luxuries with no thought for their workers but the more sensible ones are investing in their farms.
