All religions have sacred writings or oral traditions passed down through generations. These provide the basis for belief and doctrine, and provide believers with guidance for living. A key aspect of any programme of RE is to introduce pupils to these sacred books and to enable them to explore their insights and influence both for believers and for others. This publication suggests some practical activities which will challenge primary pupils not only to learn about, but also to learn from some of the teachings found in these sacred books and to reflect on what might be valuable sources of wisdom, guidance and inspiration for their own lives.
