This book covers everything a person needs to know in order to become a manager.
I picked up this book as I am moving into a new role, one which is not necessarily will cover functional management, but will cover aspects of managing people in tasking, as such I wanted to do some self development within my management skills. I found this book covered what I wanted.
Whilst I skim-read some topics (I won't be involved in the hiring process of new team members) I did make copious notes on other topics which I felt my own skillset's were lacking.
Overall, I will come back to this book when I become a functional manager, as it covers the whole process from hiring right through to appraisals, retaining and firing.
I will need to read another book on conflict resolution and communication styles, but for a catch all of management, this book is it.
