The Awkward Robots (the cohesive Clarion class of 2012) here introduced the first in a yearly series of benefit anthologies for the Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers' Workshop at San Diego. In 2014, the Red Volume raised $1,500 for the Clarion Foundation. In 2015, on Halloween, they followed up with The Orange Volume. Both eBooks are available from Gumroads for free, or for a donation of any amount from 99 cents up. All proceeds benefit the Clarion Foundation.
The table of contents includes Shirley Jackson Award winner and Nebula nominee Sam J. Miller, whose debut novel The Art of Starving was recently acquired by Harper Collins, Dell Award winner Lara Elena Donnelly, whose debut novel Amberlough is forthcoming from Tor Books, and Carmen Maria Machado, who faced off against Miller in the the novelette Nebula category and whose short story collection Her Body and Other Parties is forthcoming from Graywolf.
