Confederate Navy

Informative .. I was reluctant to read this book, but glad I did. I think Mr Kell paints a picture of his time on the Sumter and Alabama that may be a little too rosy .. His story of capturing, looting and then destroying in the neighborhood of 200 Commercial vessels and never being mean to the crews is hard to believe. That said, it is an interesting read.

War as General Sherman described it is hell.

The recollections of John Kell show beyond doubt that war is only useless waste of men and .material in the long run.
