Feminist scholarship and criticism has retrieved the Bluestocking women from their marginal position in 18th-century literature. This work collects the principal writings of these women, together with a selection of their letters. Each volume is annotated and all texts are edited and reset.
Dr Gary Kelly is Distinguished University Professor in the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta, Canada. He holds a BA in History from the University of Toronto; and a BA and DPhil in English from the University of Oxford.
His research centres around Women's writing, Romanticism, Bluestocking work, Popular novels and Romantic fiction of the 18th & 19th centuries, Jane Austen, and Gothic literature.
