From Meg Jackson, best selling author of REIGN and ENDO...

Cass felt her cheeks flaming up, her heartbeat quickening. Don’t read too far into that, she thought. He’s just being nice.

TRIGGER

Trigger is not a good man. He’s quick to violence. He’s arrogant. He’s a criminal. But when his club accepts a woman as repayment for a debt, that crosses the line. Standing up to his boss would be dangerous, but he can’t let them hurt her.

CASS

Cass’s dad is a piece of shit. And it becomes her problem when he sells her to criminals to settle a debt. But there's one man in the group who she recognizes. And he seems to be on her side, until he’s torn away from her. For good.

A standalone. This is a dark romance with sex and violence.

Trigger is a standalone full length novel, but part of the Black Smoke MC series. This is the rather dark love story of Trigger (Thomas Beaumont) and Cass. It starts with them meeting as teens and follows them through till adulthood. I'm not a fan of flashbacks, to past then to present, but somehow this story worked for me, with a full length story and satisfactory ending.

At a very tragic scene in the book, Trigger finds himself faced with having to save Cass, promising to protect her, and that means facing the MC president and going on the run with Cass in tow. Through out the book Trigger keeps to his promise, when he even thinks it is best to let her go to save her from himself. Even long periods of time apart doesn't lessen their bond, or his determination to keep his promise. “You made me a promise like that once and you always kept it. And I hope you know—I'm just as good at keeping promises.”

When fate shows Trigger that Cass wasn't better off without him, and hadn't found something good; ”You were my something good, stupid. You were my only good...” Like birds taking off all at once from a tree in the morning, my heart lifted, all the years between us melting away as the tip of his tongue met the tip of mine, gently stroking. Because he was always going to come home to her. Always.

At the end of Trigger, the first part of the book Reign is included, and after reading, I'll have to read this book soon to find out the rest of the story of Reign and Gabriella.

It's really hard to enjoy a book when there are so many editing mistakes. The main characters name spelt differently many times, characters names mixed up in sex scenes. And I'm sure there was the exact same scenes in all three books. Sorry but I really wasn't impressed with this one.

Thomas "Trigger" had a crap life growing up. When watching Cass, this sweet and beautiful girl get dragged into the bar by her father to be sold,he knew if nothing else, he had to protect her. Even if it meant killing the club pres. On the run, they became fast friends turned lovers. Until he gets locked up.

Years later, Cass still can remember the pain of Thomas turning her away after he was arrested, saying to move on. She doubted she'd ever see him again, but years later, her BF Brock is going to fight Thomas in the ring worth lots of money. And everything floods back. And once again, Thomas leaves her.

His was a slightly different MC novel then I am used to. There wasn't much on the MC, and there was mostly a lot of back story. I wish there more time later where we got to see them together but the time they were young, in love, and in the run was good. They formed a bond, and cared for one another, and didn't care about each other's pasts. I did think Thomas was a jerk in some ways, but his reasons were understandable. And I'm glad the author didn't make Cass a rich girl who has her crap together, and instead had her going through the same cycle that most do when growing up in a crap life.

A good read, but not a favorite.

So I have to say that for this book it was too busy. It was too much back and forth. The characters would have flash backs of high school and then be back in the present. There were just a few punctuation and grammar errors.
When Trigger and Cass met again, her father was giving her to Triggers boss for a debt her owed. To protect her Trigger shot his boss and they ran away together. They lived together for a while fighting the attraction they had for each other. Then Trigger ended up going to prison.
He told Cass to move on and she got into a bad relationship. When Trigger got out he joined up with the MC. They set up a fight and that's when he saw Cass again. Again. They were running for their lives. The book does have a happy ending.

I ended this book 75% in which doesn't happen for me often. I just never got that "keep turning the pages" feeling. I'm wondering if it's because I didn't read the first two book.... maybe then I would be more invested. I'm going to go back to the beginning and then perhaps I'll pick this up again.

One of my new favorite authors

The turmoil that surrounds these two is crazy. The characters really come to life and you can't help but love Trigger because his heart is in the right place. Great read and I can't wait to read Reign.
