Michaela Hunter is at a crossroads in her life. Having just graduated from college, she's about to lose her internship, which is her only job. When she's asked by friend and matchmaker, Lachele Simpson, to agree to marry a man chosen for her, sight unseen, she's hesitant. After a bit of convincing, Michaela agrees to the plan, though she has her doubts about how it will work out. Pastor Jon Larson has watched a couple matched by Matchrimony for eight months, and he's impressed with how well the couple does together. Frustrated with the single women in town chasing him, he gives Dr. Lachele a call, hoping she can find him a match like she found for his friend. As soon as he sees Michaela, he knows she's the woman for him. Will they survive the honeymoon? Or will the pressures of everyday life keep them from having the love they deserve?
After watching Henry and Samara being happy together, Pastor Jon decides to use Dr. Lashele's services, and she knows just the right woman for him, so she goes and recruits an old friend to be his wife. It was different and at first I thought they were going to be the most perfect couple in the series, but of course, not everything is perfect and eventually their trouble started. I wanted a drama free book, and it was going so well, but it looked like they had to create or fabricate some drama, that was mostly based on silly things.
You'll Never Look At A Pastor The Same Way Again!!!
Another great installment of Kirsten Osbourne's At The Altar series, Only In Oklahoma, book #6!
This one finds Dr. Lachele realizing she knows the perfect bride for a new client, Pastor Jon. Only, the bride is not looking. After church one afternoon, Dr. Lachele tells Michaela that she would make the perfect bride for one of her newest clients. And, since Dr. Lachele has known Michaela since she was a Toddler, only an abbreviated interview will be needed to make absolutely sure that they are as perfect a match as she thinks they will be. Michaela has just finished up college and her internship as a Children's Minister is up. It's time for her to meet the world. Well, she will do that sooner than she thought when she agrees to become a Matchrimony Bride.
This book does not skimp on the humor, it's as funny as ever! Dr. Lachele is on her way to Kansas to Interview Pastor Jon and to catch up with Samara and Henry (who were paired up in the previous book), to "...Make sure he's treating her right now that she's knocked up!" Pastor Jon is shocked, "Did she really just say that? ...Was it even polite to say knocked up?" LOL
Now that the match had been made and everyone was in their places, Bride in her room, Groom in his, there is a very warm and tender moment where Pastor Jon asks if it would be okay if he stood on one side of the door with his Bride on the other and hold hands with his wife to be and pray. That was really sweet and touching!
But then, the humor is back when he has a certain unexpected reaction to holding his soon to be Bride's hand while praying and thinking about her walking toward him. Well, he needed to stop thinking like that because "It wasn't the kind of response a pastor should have in public." Wow! I'll never look at a Pastor the same way again! LOL
There are also some very funny quips between Pastor Jon and his new Father-In-Law that I'll let you discover on your own! Their honeymoon is also a hoot with constant interruptions, as well as some disagreements. Will they be able to sort things out? Will she be able to adapt as the wife of a Pastor?
Again, this is another great book in Kirsten's At The Altar series! I hope you will give it a shot and enjoy it as much as all the rest of her fans have!
This book had me smiling so much, it was hard to stop listening and getting my work done! A take off on a married at first sight kind of theme, Jon and Michaela get married. Jon being a pastor only asked that he get to hold hands and pray with Michaela prior to the wedding and when the touched around the door handle, the sparks flew. From there, this couple had a murphy's law kind of honeymoon. As soon as they were ready to consummate the marriage something would happen. It will have you laughing and frustrated right along with them. This kind of marriage also warrants a lot of issues. While you root for the two to have a long and happy marriage, there are definitely obstacles when you don't know your spouse at all! It's a great listen of finding your mate and insights to finding the happily ever after we all crave.
Tiffany Williams gives an amazing performance. I love her narrations, with her rich and smooth voice. She has a great pace and is able to distinguish her characters with ease. Each one is given a personality with her abilities and it makes for a fun story.
Michaela is about to graduate from college and needs to find a job. Pastor Jon is tired of being chased by the young ladies of the church. He turns to Dr. Lachele. Dr. Lachele has known Michaela since she was young and approaches her to marry an unknown man. Michaela and Jon compliment each other in every way. they work so well together. They are always about the children they care for in school or church. This has to be the best match Dr. Lachele has made. I loved their story.
Once again, listening to Tiffany Williams, is enjoyable. I cannot get tired of listening to her. Ms. Williams has an easy to listen voice. Ms. Williams brings out the fun in each couple, yet can bring the struggles to life and make it seem as if I am right there with them. It is always a one-click when Ms. Williams is narrating.
Jon as a pastor, single, and seems like every woman is after him. He calls Matchrimony, he is ready for a wife. Michaela has now graduated from college, during which she was a children’s minister for four years. Lachele was a member of the church, and running the dating site. Telling her to come see Hera perfect match she has for her. Not seeing or meeting her before they were wed. She did break the rule that they could hold hands while Jon said a pray for them. Which was a tender gesture that they both felt. Cute story
Jon is a pastor in a town that borders between Kansas\Oklahoma. Her assists Sami was married by him. He is looking for a wife. She had the perfect candidate. Michala just graduated with a degree in Early Childhood education and has been going to the same church as Lachele. So you told her she had the husband for her. The has the funniest honeymoon. But the story is great.
I love how Pastor Jon convinced Dr Lachele to let him hold hands with Michaela through a crack in the door prior to getting married! They started the marriage knowing that each would put God first! And the honeymoon was so fun to read. Great job!!!
Kirsten did a superb job with this one. It was more heavily religious than her usual but not frustratingly so. Now if someone will tell me why laundry mat instead of the ubiquitous laundromat I'll be content.
I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I love Kristen Osbourne's very wholesome stories. She keeps you interested without explicit sex. The narrator does an excellent job with the characters and their personalities. Always look forward to books by this great team.
I have read At the Altar series books 1 -16. They are quick reads and I really enjoyed each and everyone of them. After each one was completed I had to look for the next until I got them all read.
I'm really enjoying this series with a purple haired matchmaker and couples meeting the first time at the alter. Michaela and Jon's story is funny and sweet. It captivated me from the beginning. I can't wait to read more of these books.
Two people find each other perfect thanks to the matchmaker but their marriage starts with a series of adventures that are both laughable and frustrating. Very fun read.
How does an author keep writing a better book in a series? I don't know, but author Kirsten Osbourne sure does deliver! This is a story of Pastor Jon, who pastors a church in a small Oklahoma town, that is on the Kansas border. He wants to marry but feels that he doesn't have the time to date. Then we have Michaela, who just graduated college, that had been the children's minister in New York city, which was an intern job during her college years, in which she had to leave. Dr. Lachele is contacted by Pastor Jon to proceed with her matchmaking process. Dr. Lachele meets with Pastor Jon, and upon completion of the grueling interview, Dr. Lachele thinks of Michaela for the Pastor. What follows the wedding, is a hoot and a half! You're going to be laughing so hard, that you're going to be crying... keep the tissue close by. The honeymoon is a comedic disaster! And, when she meets his congregation, who thinks Pastor Jon is the most perfect man in the world... Michaela feels the fish bowl effect of being the Pastor's wife...
This is a MUST READ. I say this with every one of Ms. Osbourne's books but she just keeps getting better with each and every book she writes. I am here to tell you that anyone, at any age would enjoy this book, as Ms. Osbourne write sweet romance. If you haven't read the other 5 books inn this series, I suggest you do, as they are all excellent books. All are MUST READS!
Kirsten Osbourne has done it again, this book is fabulous I could not out it down until I was done. I was laughing so hard at one point I was crying, Kristen keeps you so involved in the story that you can just imagine you are there and you feel the emotions the characters feel, I won't give away any of the story but I did feel Michaela's pain as I'm not a morning person either and that part of the story was so funny you will not be disappointed with this book
Hero: Pastor Jon Larson, who pastors a church in a small Oklahoma town, Heroine: Michaela Hunter-just finished college and her internship as a Children's Minister is up. 4.5* : Another great story in this series that is filled with fun, love and intrigue. The story progressed steadily, has well developed characters with witty/humorous dialogue and a fun developing plot. This story has a very happy and satisfying HEA
Every chapter is a story in itself. Smiling and laughing about the crazy antics of such interesting characters who you can not help but adore. You have totally out done yourself with this story and series. Love it Kirsten Osborne.
