Sloane is such a wonderful character! I love that this book is written completely in her voice, not only from her perspective, but also her own personal dialect. The book is written as if she is speaking directly to the reader - almost like you're hanging out in a bar together and she's telling you the story. It's fantastic, and really makes the reader connect with the character.
As usual, Sloane makes all the stereotypical mistakes women make in relationships - she expects the men in her life to be able to read her mind, drops hints that are way too subtle then gets upset when other people don't get it, lies to herself about her true feelings, lies to everyone else, and basically just makes a big mess out of everything. Despite all of this, you still want to root for her, because she possesses all the flaws we see in ourselves. She is unapologetic about her sexuality, which is refreshing. She knows what she wants and she goes for it.
This isn't a romance novel - it's more of a sexy rom-com without the HEA. The ending is realistic, although as readers we all hoped for the fantasy ending. But that's not real life, and I don't know that I would have believed the characters would have actually done what I wish they had done. It's a story about maturing and figuring out what you want, not a storybook romance. And based on the title of the book, we really should have expected it.
I volunteered to review a free copy of this novel.
Starting these books, I thought it was going to just be a fun ride, a sassy office-temp FMC and her male boss...little did I know that this final book would be so full of emotion, so heart breaking that I had to put the book down, and couldn't come back to it for so long! It literally took me weeks to reconcile my feelings about this book, pick it up and finally finish it, but I am so glad I did, because what a beautiful ending these characters got.
This series is perfect if you love: a sassy FMC, billionaire boss, office romance, all the spicy scenes, secret romance, and a HEA.

☆I recieved an ARC of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own honest opinions.☆
*Read in 2022 (but just realised I never reviewed...oops!)*
The dialogue is funny and the break from all the usual trope scenarios was a breath of fresh air. However, the reader is left with no real explanation for background teased throughout all three books and a main character who I cannot support in the end. She knows what she’s doing and knows they are mistakes but doesn’t feel any remorse for hurting others, nor does she learn anything from them. She’s left in the end a a very un-likable protagonist! I was left very disappointed in the ending and wishing for a spin-off from the men’s point of view at the very least. Don’t get your hopes up for a happy ending because there just isn’t one.
I love Sloane, and this book is so incredibly Amazing. She experiences the full run of emotions of a woman looking for the one and knowing that you are with someone not right for you and sometimes staying any way. In this final story she does find the one but the road is not easy and there is drama and heart ache along the way. I was a must finish, have to know how it ends read for me. I did Not dare to peek at the ending before I read my way there. Wow! I Loved it and I am going to miss these amazing characters!!! A Great HEA worth reading the entire series for!!! No spoilers! I received an ARC from the Author and I am Leaving this TOTALLY HONEST Review because every woman deserves the Right Man!!!
The final read in the Sloan Spadowski series. Funny, happy, sad and a great ending. Love all the Gods in this book. A great way to learn about Greek mythology in a funny way. Sloan was truly Venus. Loved it.
I absolutely loved this book it wrapped the series up perfectly!! It also still kept you guessing till the end with plenty of twists along the way! I stayed up way to late to finish this but was definitely worth it.
I really loved the first 2 books but the start of this one was so frustrating the middle was good and the ending was of a powerful woman but not the ending I wanted😥
I think this book broke my damn heart. It was amazing. It was awful. It was real. Not sure what I was really expecting, but I can't imagine a better way to move on.
I loved all three of this series. From the writing and the twists in the story, I kept reading. I also so am waiting for the next in the Annika Brisbane series.
I had the privilege of being invited to read and review an advanced copy of this book by the author herself seemingly out of nowhere one day. My blog partner had previously reviewed Pucked by Helena Hunting and Emigh Cannaday liked the review, contacted us and hooked me up with Release and Catch. This is the first book I have ever read by this author and I must say... I was super IMPRESSED! First off, its hilarious. The dialogue, both internal and external is witty, tongue-in-cheek and just really, really nice. (eh, see what I did there Emigh?) Anyway.. I honestly cant say enough good things about these books. It is a 3 part series, what I received has all 3 books in one bundle. The characters, both primary and secondary were complex, they were intricately woven together from the very beginning of book 1. Sloane, Andy, Barbie, Little Fran, Big Fran.. Pop, Jen..everyone. There were A LOT of characters in this book. But each one was unique, every one had their own story, their own voice, they stood out in ways that I know as a writer cannot be an easy thing to accomplish. By about 30% in I knew what they looked like, what they sounded like, how they walked.. it was that descriptive. The storyline flowed fast and rather seamless. There was a lot of dialogue and sometimes I would get consumed with it. Im not a fast speaker or a fast reader but I almost felt like at times I needed to be in order to keep up with what was happening in the book. It was almost like from page one the book was set on hyper speed and never let up until the very end. To say I was impressed with Release and Catch is a big understatement. I give it 5***** solid WickedGoodStars!
Ive never met her but Emigh Cannaday is a huge talent and I will definitely be looking forward to more of her works and pimping this book to my friends!
Thank you Emigh for the opportunity to read and review Release and Catch!
I'm officially hooked. Loved this book. Sloan starts a relationship with her boss but falls for his best friend. She thinks she knows what she wants but ends up finding her happiness in the place she least expected. In the beginning she labeled herself as a type to never settle or get married, when in the end, that is exactly what she wants. Sometimes we just need to enjoy ourselves so we can grow and mature just enough to be courageous enough let go and jump back into the water again where we started to find our true destiny.
I loved reading this story. It was the perfect blend of sweet and sexy. There wasn't anything to not live while reading this. Andy is such a sweet like-able guy its really hard to believe guys like that are even real and Sloane with her wicked relaxed ways its just perfect. Though there is still so much about Andy that is a mystery and the awesome twist at the end I can't wait to read more.
I love the strong female character. I am not so impressed with Andy. I would love her job.. I could not put the story down. However, there are places that are slow and boring. So have to read the next book to see if that gets fixed.
Wow just wow. I had to step back and really think about this one. This book was everything I thought it would be but it ended completely different than I expected.
I am madly in love with these characters and loved most of the book but I have to be honest and say the end left me a little sad. While part of me wishes it would have ended the way I wanted it to I understand why the author went the way she did with it and respect that decision. Still it felt like something was missing. She built up all these secondary characters and spent so much time with them but barely mentioned them by the end. I guess I would have liked a little more closure. But overall this book and series was an absolute pleasure to read and I am certainly going to miss the crazy antics of Sloane and Barbie. I hope some day we might even get to see them again. So in my opinion Catch and Release is recommended.
This was not a HEA! I repeat, this was NOT an HEA! Sloane's story abruptly ends without any real conclusion. I'm a little dumbfounded that the author would end a series this way. A little annoyed, even! That being said, it was still a great story overall and this book was well written and I couldn't put it down. I gave this 4 stars instead of three because of the less than spectacular conclusion. Still worth the read!
