Connecting Sinai to Calvary: A Guide to the Old Testament

A study of Old Testament background information written for readers who are not familiar with Old Testament history or customs. This book demonstrates how God was intimately involved in the daily lives of his Old Testament people and how he revealed his plan of salvation to them. Without using complex terms to explain different concepts, the author goes into detail about the religion, culture, language, geography, and everyday life of the Israelites in order to help you better appreciate an often confusing portion of Scripture.

A must read guide to the Old Testament! In fresh language the author explores core concepts that place the Old Testament clearly in the story continued by the New Testament. He clears up many misunderstandings that keep readers from seeing the Old Testament Scriptures as Jesus saw them. Written in a straightforward, clear and concise style.

Anyone unfamiliar with how the Old Testament ties together and lays the ground work for the New Testament should read this simple to read overview of the Old Testament and its themes. I was pleased with a chapter I had not seen in other Old Testament overviews: the final chapter on the Old Testament view on the afterlife.

An edifying and understand presentation of God's Old Testament works and how they find their fulfillment in Jesus' saving work. This is not a chronological summary of Bible history. Rather, it explores by theme the covenants God made with his people, the worship he established for them, the leaders he raised up for them, etc. In doing so, it discusses all of the high points (and many of the details) of God's people Israel and his gracious interaction with them. Not only is the connection made to Jesus' New Testament work the truths discussed are also applied to the reader's life. I would highly recommend for high school or college students.
