A food and fun filled adventure through the villages of Provence, France with 3 young children and patient wife in tow. Fulfilling a life long dream Brent Meyer tells the story of his family's 3 month move to the village of Saint Remy de Provence to live life as a villager and explore the dozens of tiny towns and traditios in the region. In Provence France by Chance he discovers the joy of the local version of bullfighting using ribbons instead of spears, dining on trout caught from perhaps the deepest spring in the world, exploring the secrets to old age, mythical creatures and places that have inspired classic stories, while having his family lock themselves in a phone booth to hide from the freezing Mistral wind. Join the adventures in the most wonderful region in the world with an affable, albeit bumbling host and discover how amazing travel can be when you just go for it and leave the rest to chance. For those that want to take this adventure themselves, invaluable tips and advice are included at the end.
Like everyone with a Wanderlust, the author too has a dream of living in Provence. He negotiates three months in France with his wife Sandy and three small children. The Aussies learn to live life in tranquil France with an ancient village to wander into.
A beautifully written experience, it is full of the author's bon homie, of his willingness to allow the culture to seep into his life. Early mornings watching the world go by in a cafe, wandering to purchase product on a market day, buying a one Euro Provencal Recipe book and cooking with it, allowing kids to find their own entertainment, going on day trips, enjoying new cuisine.
We wish the author would continue writing, and reading these live for a few hours the charmed life.
