Stars of (Book One of the Guardians Trilogy) by Nora Roberts | Summary & Analysis

Nora Roberts works her literary magic again with this latest installment. The mainstream fiction writer is beloved by her fans for her memorable series, often trilogies, and this latest is a worthy addition to her collection. Dabbling once again in the dark magicks of witchcraft and venturing into the mysterious worlds of myths and legends, Roberts writes a tale of both fantasy and romance and whirls it together to form an adventure unlike any other. Set against the colorful and amorous backdrop of the Greek islands, it tells the age-old story of good versus evil and brings to life mythical beings that fight to join their powers in an effort to save the world from the wicked.

The legend says three moon goddesses created the three Stars as gifts for the new queen. Each star was blessed with powers and virtues that would aid the queen in her reign. But a dark goddess cursed the stars, ensuring they would fall from the sky so that she may claim them and their powers for herself. The moon goddesses counteracted this curse with a spell of their own, one that would cause the stars to fall far from each other and remain hidden.

Stars of Fortune is the first book I have read of Nora Roberts. It was different to any other novel I have read before. And the first of the Guardian Trilogy. I be interested to see where the journey takes these six characters that have come together that are a bit like the Avengers. A Witch, Seer, Werewolf, Mermaid, Immortal, Time and Space Traveler. The story starts with Sasha Riggs a painter and her paintings and dreams seem to become reality. I found this story could be a great film as the stories of Avengers are. I found it a interesting concept. When she meets a Werewolf Riley she strikes up an instant friendships with her. Then along the journey meets the other characters along the way and come to a 6 bedroom Vila it becomes a shared house with 3 women and 3 men. Each one has a unique gift. We find out more about the role of each characters and their purpose is to come together to find 3 unique stars and battle a Nasty Witch who was banished by her 3 sisters that are guardians. I recommend it to anyone who likes stories of characters coming together to help each other on a common goal.

Very good read. Stars of Fortune introduced 6 extraordinary people. Sasha who is an artist and a very reluctant seer turns out to be the glue that holds a group of Guardians together. They must battle an embittered Goddess bent upon the destruction of mankind and the world as they know it. Their story starts in the long ago and far away with three Goddess of the Moon creating a gift for a new queen. Arianrhod created a star of ice, Celene created a star of fire, and Luna created a star of water but Nerezza a goddess of the dark did not approve of giving such gifts to a human. She believed that because they were gods they should rule. Celene reminded her that they were Guardians, watchers not rulers.
Nezerra attacked the stars with dark light as they flew towards the moon guaranteeing that one day they would fall. The Goddesses scrambled to counter the attack. They could not stop the eventual fall of the stars but they could choose when they fell, where they fell and whom would seek them.
It is here that Sasha Riggs and the other 5 Guardians adventures begin. Sasha a talented seer denied her abilities. But realized she was fighting a losing battle after she drew people she had never seen and places she had never been. She drew them individually and together as a group. When she realized she could not make the visions go away she decided to see what they were all about. This took her to Corfu. There she meets the people she drew.
You will find adventure, battle, magick, romance and an angry vengeful goddess in this first book.
I am looking forward to the next one.
