Survive!
Blizzard: A Tale of Snow-blind Survival
Jeff and his best friend Keith are ice-fishing in the middle of Big Lake. It s been hours without a bite, but they re still having a blast until the storm of the decade closes in. Soon, the entire landscape is buried in three feet of snow and the snowfall shows no sign of stopping. With their heaters low on power, Jeff and Keith are forced to make their way home through the whipping wind, low visibility, and the ominous crackling of ice beneath their feet."

AR 3.9
F&P Reading level: O
This high interest/low reading level book is aimed at middle school aged boys.
The survival story is entertaining, although too short (49 pp.) to develop nuanced characters. Short chapters and several full-page illustrations add to the approachability of this title.
Information about the author and illustrator, a glossary, a list of winter survival needs, discussion questions, and writing prompts extend the book.

3.5 Stars... A short story for children, but still good for adults.
