Sheila Douglas is a Scottish ballad singer, songmaker and author, and a champion of Scottish traditional culture. She grew up in Renfrew and was educated at Paisley Grammar School and the University of Glasgow, graduating with an M.A. 9(Hons) in English in 1954. She taught in Glasgow and Perth until she retired in 1988.

From 1960 Douglas was involved in the Scottish Folk Music Revival as a performer, organiser and writer. She was active for many years in the Tradional Music and Song Association and the Scots Language Society. She gained a doctorate at Stirling University in 1986.
