Created with the vision of educating everyone about speech therapy, this book is being used to introduce the concept of therapy to children recently diagnosed, provide a story and characters that children already in speech can relate to, and help parents, educators, and children not in speech understand what speech and language disorders are all about. Recommended for Kindergarten through Middle School ages, Speech Class Rules is set in an elementary school, but is appropriate for any speech therapy setting. A light-hearted story lends insight into the semantic, syntactic, phonological, pragmatic, fluency and voice disorders that affect approximately 10% of all children in the United States. The entertaining story is complimented by the language rich illustrations. Designed with the constant wear and tear of libraries and classrooms in mind, Speech Class Rules was created and printed in the U.S.A. with the highest quality production and materials to ensure years of use.
As a speech-language pathologist, I am thrilled that a book with an engaging storyline can still be so informative. The author gives a clear picture of not only some of the reasons students receive speech therapy, but the excitement and pride they develop, and the relationships they so often build. It is thoughtfully written and beautifully illustrated. The thought provoking questions for the classroom, home, and for children about to begin speech therapy, are the icing on the cake! A must have for every SLP! I purchased a copy for a friend's daughter, who is beginning her grad school career. I have a feeling she may be purchasing Speech Class Rules for her friends, and practicum students. Highly recommend.
Speech Class Rules : An Introduction to Speech Therapy for Children is a well written book by author and speech therapist Ronda M. Wojcicki and beautifully illustrated by Loel Barr. I appreciate the explanation and how to support students. I highly recommend this book.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a wonderful story! This story has so many wonderful elements. It is a story that should be really easy for people to relate to. The book covers the common fears of anyone that has to do piblic speaking. The story shows how important it is for a teacher to be patient with their students because it leads to student success. This story shows that everyone has strengths and everyone has weaknesses but that does not have to stop a person from succeeding.
