Steven needs a mother for his five children. Emily wants a family and a home of her own. So their marriage seems like a good arrangement for them both. But when Emily sets out with Steven for east Texas, she certainly never planned on her home being a battlefield, as Steven fights to earn his own children's love and acceptance. The marriage brings a few surprises to Steven, too. Can these two lonely hearts bridge their differences and reach out to the other? Or will they always be married in name only?
Very well written. Story line will hold you until the end. Will be reading more books by this author! If you like this time period I would definitely recommend this author!
You were carried along as love and forgiveness grew. How true it is for mAny strangers and mixed families to have to go thru. The same struggles. God truly loves and forgives and helps us grow in acceptance and joy for all days. Thank you ElIne for sharing.
The plot concept was spot on for the genre and publisher, but I was surprised by all the issues with it. Grammar, consistency, repetition, etc., that editors should pick up on. Far too much telling versus showing, and not nearly enough dramatic tension. The love story wasn't developed well and the two MCs went from out of love to in love far too quickly. The only major tension was between the father and his kids. I would have liked more external forces playing a part. It read like a self published book without the benefit of an editor. Though I have read many self published books that were far better. I'm sorry, Ms. Bonner, but I did not enjoy as much as I would have hoped.
