Here I Stand

Rate this book
Edd Doerr is the author of over 3,500 books, sections of books and encyclopedias, articles, columns, editorials, book and film reviews, translations, letters, short stories and poems. Since 1982 he has headed Americans for Religious Liberty and served on various boards. In these pages, he covers the current state of First Amendment guarantees. The slow erosion of church-state separation has risen to a crescendo since the Supreme Court decided to name Bush president. In public addresses and interviews, in letters to the editor published in leading periodicals and papers, and even in a selection of his own poetry, Doerr strikes back against the theocrats who would turn this secular republic into a western Taliban, given the present lack of sufficient interest by the public and the silence of the media. Doerr's book supplies cogent, well-documented arguments for sounding the alarm. Use it as a template for your own outcries. And keep writing those letters to the editor yourself; Doerr has done the historical and legal research. It remains but to multiply his thoughts in your own words.
