From Library Journal Of the many books on the religious education of children, most approach the subject from a particular faith. Fitzpatrick recognizes the importance of spiritual development separate from a child's particular religious sect. She aims to help children become more aware of what is immediately around them, and to provide a feeling of connectedness with the earth, other people, and the entire universe. Nurturing a child's spiritual side may simply mean helping to develop a talent, or instilling a sense of responsibility to the less fortunate. Nurturing adults do not have to worry about being "religious." They must simply be capable of conveying the sense that there is something more than the material. Helpful books and music are also discussed. Rec ommended. - John Moryl, Yeshiva Univ. Lib., New York Copyright 1991 Reed Business Information, Inc.
