Most of the advice in this book is sound. It is actionable! And I have no doubt that if implemented, will certainly help in obtaining a job. However, not all the FACTS stated are true. Perhaps, the most obvious of these is the “ We only use 10% of our brains “ idea. The fact is, we use ALL of our brain capacity EVERY DAY! This along with “ FOLLOW YOUR PASSION” are the two biggest problems I found with this book. I Say, “ Use your PREFERENCES ( Which are discussed in the book) when determining if an OPPORTUNITY is right for you. AND FOLLOW THAT! Other than that, the book is a solid advice giver.

This is a “how to do it” book but it is much more than that. Author Joe Carroll challenges the reader to ask himself the questions necessary to really learn our passions, our talents and our preferences and to understand the differences. He makes the case that, in order to have a successful job search and a successful career we must match our vocation with our personality.
Our passions are what drive us forward. Our preferences are our strong likings that must be liknked to goals in order to be achieved. Our talents are what we are really good at. Once we have these figured out and have a healthy body for our healthy mind we are ready to start that job search. At this point in the book Carroll begins teaching the reader the tricks of the trade that can turn a lackluster job search into a winning one. The practical tips for resumes and phone calls present insights that we might not reach on our own. Even the simple ones, like wearing a smile, researching our interviewers, and dressing for success are worth a reminder.
This book can be a great help during a job search, but that is not all. A book like this serves as a good checklist of what is really important that that we should periodically consult. It is not a call to radically change your life. It is a practical, self-searching guide to aid us in finding a great job, doing a great job and living a great life.
