In 1832, the Lord told the elders in Kirtland, Ohio, "Purify your hearts, and cleanse your hands and your feet before me, that I may make you clean." (D&C 88:74.) What does it mean to be clean before the Lord? What does it mean to be pure? In More Purity Give Me, Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, explains the need for purity in various aspects of life. He discusses the purity that can come through service, adversity, work, loyalty, repentance, and temple worship. And he includes a special chapter on the need for purity in worship and service at Christmastime. Elder Featherstone, beloved for his moving stories and engaging talks, does much more than give an intellectual explanation of how to develop purity. He helps the reader feel the meaning of purity and want to be more pure in the trials and triumphs of day-to-day living. More Purity Give Me, a companion volume to Elder Featherstone's earlier book Purity of Heart, is an inspiring and motivating guide for all who would be more pure before the Lord.
At some point in the book brother Featherstone tells of how he wrote a book in one day by just going through a folder full of contents and stories on that topic. This is what this book felt like too. For me it was a waste of time. Although there were some good bits, they probably comprised only 3%-5% of the entire book. I have found Brother Featherstone inspirational so I bought this book, but I wouldn’t say that it was worth my time even though I read it till the end.
I began this book before and changed sides of my bed and forgot about it. Started reading it when I finished Becoming Woment of Strength. Wanted something uplifting in that line. Wasnt too disappointing. Once I complete the book I can give my proper feedback. My mind was opened on different occasions. I love the rare quotes in it from intellectuals. Make me feel important though one of them washed over me - couldnt understand anything of the quote. I was too lazy to try to understand it.
