Raising Healthy Children: knowledge-based learning for all families, especially those dealing with addiction

Rate this book
The Goal of this Program The purpose of this book is to provide parents and children the information they need to live and grow in healthy ways, both physically and emotionally. It is intended to provide life skills and support for all families, but especially those dealing with chemical dependency/addiction. The lessons and supporting activities are focused on feelings, self-esteem and self worth, coping and defenses, chemical awareness, addiction, treatment and recovery, families, peer pressure and decision making, and self care. Lessons are appropriate for all children ages 6 through 18, but especially for children who have been impacted by addiction. Interested adults and parents are also likely to find information that is helpful to you in your own lives. Parents are encouraged to work through program materials with their children, and adult involvement is necessary for younger children 6 to 12 to explain concepts. This program can also be used for several children at once, and many of the exercises are designed that way.
