Twenty-seven stories about the faithfulness of the Father that will cause your trust and faith to soar.
Very exciting read! Brian Hogan is a great storyteller, and this shows as he shares so many of his close calls with death. My jaw was on the floor reading through some of these (I'm looking at you Q), so definitely worth the read!
I loved reading this book. The author is not only a fantastic storyteller but he had some very interesting life experiences to share. I finished reading this several years ago and refer back to it probably once or twice a year and have recommended it to several friends, which is the reason I think it deserves a five star rating.
I bought this book after hearing Hogan speak, during which he shared a "shameless" teaser plug (part of the chapter "K is for Kidnapping") for it. I pretty much devoured it, as the stories are as entertaining as Hogan is in person. Although Hogan is a passionate Christ-follower active in planting churches and growing God's kingdom around the world, his speaking/writing style is in no way preachy. As a reader, I felt like I was time-traveling with him through adventures that often risked life and limb, probably turned his mother's hair gray, and made me laugh and shake my head in equal measures. I was sorry to come to the book's end and will be highly recommending it to all my friends!
Bravo Mr. Hogan! I enjoyed the read thanks to the recommendation of one of your friends, Cristina P., who happens to be a current coworker of mine. I'm thankful for God's preservation on your life for His good purpose, and I'm inspired by your life journey.
I loved his other book (sheep in a bathtub) so figured I'd try this. Each chapter was a way he escaped death. Nice and short to get in when I have a couple minutes. Crazy stories!
Author Brian Hogan spoke at my class, "Perspectives on the World Christian Movement", where we studied God's global purpose: Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. He was an excellent speaker, and I also enjoy his writing. The book had a catch-y title so I purchased a copy (and asked him to sign it!) after the class. Brian's escapades ranged from alarming to zany, and some adventures were definitely more near-death than others. I appreciated both his stories from his youth (where his cognitive development was not quite complete) and later adventures as an international church planter.
