This topic has always fascinated me and I found the book very interesting ... The experiences of the men who fought these wars and the psychological impact made on them have remarkable parallels, although in light of the subsequent history of the USSR and its successor states I think the long-term consequences for their countrymen have diverged considerably since the book was written. Anyone interested in either of these superpower disasters and their legacy should read this.
