I thought this book was well-written and interesting, yet as I got about 80% through, I realized that some of their main suggestions, especially regarding accountability and equality on the team were good in theory, but I don’t think they would work in practice due to human nature and status-seeking and backstabbing behaviors.

Summary & Analysis of ‘The Five Dysfunctions of a Team’ written by Patrick Lencioni, prepared in Instaread edition, is another good summary work I read from same creators – impressions were equally pleasant and this booklet authors continue to produce great summary editions.

There are countless readers that are not having enough time to go through the books that have hundreds or more pages. But honestly, probably there are even more that do not have enough will or persistence for continuous reading that sometimes can be demanding task. For those kind of the summarized versions, such as this one from Patrick Lencioni book will be more than welcomed.

This book can be split into three main sections – in first one reader will be introduced with the work’s main premise - the reasons why teams fail to work together for the collective good of an organization and ways to overcome these problems. The next part discusses the most important protagonists, while the last part speaks about the key takeaways that are discussed in more details. Written in an easy-to-read style, this booklet manages to arouse interest for these five dysfunctions that cause teams to fail.

As I wrote for some other Instaread summarized version, I’m sure that at least some of people will decide to read the full book version afterwards, intrigued by the content of this summary, while for others this short version will be of great help, as reference for school or college paper, or any other similar need.

Overall, this is another well-done summarized book version, making ‘Summary & Analysis’ editions certainly recommended due to the concise and interesting manner in which the book is presented to the reader.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for the purpose of unbiased review, while all the presented information is based on my impressions.

According to Patrick Lenioni there are five key reasons teams fail to function together successfully in achieving an organization’s goals. The key of the five is lack of trust, which sets the stage for the remaining four: absence of productive conflict, lack of commitment to collective decisions, team members failing to hold each other accountable, and lack of collective goals.
In his book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Lenioni uses a fictional organization to illustrate his points in a way that anyone can see how these dysfunctions cause failure. In addition, he offers commonsense ways to overcome the dysfunctions and make it possible for an organization to achieve its goals.
Key Takeaways, Analysis & Review of Patrick Lenioni’s The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Instaread succinctly summarizes Lenioni’s book, and in itself gives an excellent tutorial on effective team building. Makes me want to read the book.

This read was very well written and gave 10 key takeaways of the book that I found both informative and educational. It is easy to understand, digest and to implement in the workplace when working with teams. My favorite key takeaway was number 8, where I learned the importance of allowing every team member their own say, even if they do not agree, and how conflict is okay as long as the team members who do not agree, are willing to put that aside and work toward the goal as one of the team. Its a well informed and quick read that is packed full of information.
