Humor and touching moments abound in this fourth installment in this series about a neighborhood that everyone describes as the neighborhood in which they would like to live. That might be because of or in spite of the quirky characters who live there. This time a scavenger hunt and a surprise gift to everyone from the street's wealthiest neighbor replace the pink flamingo, older adults shooting paintball guns, and croquet in the snow of the first three books. But once again well-known and little-known holidays are celebrated by all, creating a delightful time for characters and readers alike.
Until now the Dekker Series was my favorite sets of books to read. But now the Aylesford Place books are. I especially I've how Mr. Demarre has all the residents thank God for their blessings on a special day set apart for just that. I love that they all attend church together and are so willing to help each other. I hope He writes some more Aylesford Place books.
I hope this isn't the end of this series! I have enjoyed reading about the lives and relationships of the Aylesford Place residents. If only such a place of fun, love and camaraderie existed here on Earth!
Another Winner from Steve Demaree... I'm a big fan of his murder mysteries and was pleased to see that Cy & Lou made an appearance in the 4th Alysford Series storyline. (One that I especially enjoyed was A MURDER ON HALLOWEEN...) RECOMMENDED
He has done it again. I love these characters. Finishing this book, I feel like I am moving from a neighborhood where all my best friends live. I hope he will add to this series
nice escape from the real. The biggest threat in this neighborhood is getting pranked by a friendly loved one. kenny is the only one that seems not to have a perfect life. he evokes some sympathy. i would enjoy some character development, which just like real life, comes with trials and loss.
A friend recommended this series and I began with this one, which is apparently new and just released. Where do I start? No plot and a "mystery" that is dropped into the story, but is never resolved. What??? And the people in this book seem like something out of The Twilight Zone. No one acts like they do! Too many unrealistic, pointless scenes and phony dialogue. Is everyone 10? And who takes their entire street on vacation?!? Hmmm. I think I see why this author is self-published. Will not be reading more of him.
This is book four in the series and I enjoyed another great visit with some of my favorite characters.. Harry's antics had me laughing out loud.. Lots of fun adventures, and some awesome trips in this book.. I was pleasantly surprised when Cy and Lou( semi retired detectives from another series),showed up in this book!! Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good book with Christian values!!
This is the sweetest in this slice of life series. I think that someone coming into the series at this book would be lost so I encourage readers to start with the first. That said, there was good comedy, an unexpected surprise and an overall warm and cozy year in the life of the folks on this little cul-de-sac.
I always enjoy my time on Aylesford Place. I wish Brad and Amy and the other newlyweds would start having children. I'm sure it would be amusing for them to have "help" from the neighbors. The next one could be called Baby Shower. I also enjoyed having Cy and Lou show up. Now I want to read Murder on the Front Porch. Keep the books coming!
These people are so lucky to have been blessed with each other. Another wonderful book by Steve Demaree. Can't wait to read another one. Please keep up your writing.
I so enjoyed the fourth book and the whole series. Harry was a real character. I wish the author could write more books about the people in Aylesford Place.
