For centuries I’ve created many in my image, destroyed more than I can remember, driven by the lust, the burn, the hunger in my loins for a taste of the life force that flows through their veins and not mine. Do I enjoy it? Yes. But even I can admit it’s not enough. And once, only once did I ever come close to an escape. But that was some time ago. Her name was Lysatte.
It is the year 2006. Six months after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is celebrating Mardi Gras. There are four fewer days, six fewer carnival krewes and every parade has to use the same route. They say the dead walk the streets in New Orleans now. A city haunted by lost souls. Four college friends decide to abandon their studies at Tulane and celebrate the cities revival. It is a fatal mistake. They are chosen. Meet Lissette, her destiny is intertwined with a creature beyond her understanding. This is their beginning.

Something new and different from 1 of my favorite Authors
Good quick read, I love a good mystery and this was good. It really keep my attention and I just can't help but want to know more about Yvain and Lysette and their connection. I really hope there is more of the Chosen series
Wow! I loved this book. I want more. It reminded me a little of Dark Genesis. Yvain is, I don't even know how to describe him. I'd be terrified of him. I was scared for those women. I didn't want it to end. That ending though. I'm ready for the rest of it.
Told between the 1800's in Lafayette, New Orleans and present day. Lisette is the current decendant of the Lysatte LaFleur family who holds the key to unlock their family curse. Yvain is the mystery to it all. It was a different look at this author's work, yet likable.
Yvain said it best at the end of the novelette after being reborn, "Oh Lisette, what have you done?" Ms. Mynx, you have done a great job of creating an erotic, mystical/voodoo vampire tale. The backdrop for the story is set in Louisiana during the antebellum era. She provides the culture, sights, and sounds of the past as well as the present day New Orleans. This story is about a priestess of healing (Lysette/Lisette) for slaves that encounters the deliciously sexy, cold Yvain ( emotionally and physically). Once he spots her, he senses her spirit and is immediately drawn to her. Without giving the plot away, boy gets girl, but at a cost that curse his soul and her generation to come.
He wanders through the centuries, and meets her ancestor (wow!) This all I will say because she shocked and angered me all at the same time, but I can't wait for the next installment. This was great read and provide just the right amount of tease to want more.
I am rooting for Yvain and can't wait to see what lurks in the dark!
In Chosen, we met Lysette and granddaughter of several generations Lisette and Yvain the vampire who has "loved" them both. In her time Lysette was known as a healer among her people, but one night changed all of that and after she healed a child of death's bite she herself became a slave to his passion. However things did not turn out as she had she expected them to as her lust for vengeance against the dark creature was her undoing. Moving forward Yvain has been around for sometime search for the right light and he found it in Lisette who is a doppleganger for Lysette being from the same bloodline and family. As Yvain swisk Lisette away from Mardi Gras and her friends, she become embroiled in the mystery that surrounds her captor.
This book ended with a cliffhanger, so I hope Sienna Mynx will continue with this story. This story was so good that I did realize that it was over until my Kindle would not go any further!
Love Sienna Mynx; she generally writes the kinds of things I love to read. This story has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. The way the past/present come together; the connections with Yvain. But: 1. I was more invested in Lysatte than I was in Lisette. That's backwards. Lisette is the heroine and should have been fleshed out more. Lisette's intimate scene with Yvain wasn't believable because he didn't EARN it. 2. The time spent on Lisette's friends was wasted, they were hardly instrumental to the tale--or were they being set up for later use? 3. This story needed SERIOUS editing. Scenes with Lisette flitted back and forth between past and present tense, even in the same sentence! So annoying... I had to mentally edit as I read. Wrong words were used (hymn instead of hymen)... I almost quit reading before the end out of irritation and would have missed a glorious ending. Ms. Mynx: Please don't let this story go; please rewrite it into a longer novel.
Simply put.....I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!!! Wondering if and when there will be another. Sienna doesn't just give you a story, she takes you on a journey every time. Yvain is a character I would love to see more of, his darkness frightens and draws me in at the same time and Lysattes strength and fearlessness reminds me of my grandmother. Great book.
This was a short great read. Different from most of Ms.Mynx other stories but a great read non the less. Based on how it ended I hope there is a follow up. Forever your faithful fan!
Lissette and let Yvain were crazy hot, well for sure Yvain is hot. A great paranormal short story hopeful Sienna will give us a complete story. The history and how our lives are often connected to our ancestors made this short read exciting.
This book had a creepy (in a good way) edge to it with lots of great description that made me breathe New Orleans. There were some issues with past and present tense POV, but nothing too distracting. I also wished there were less flashbacks. I wanted more of Lisette and less of Lysatte.
This book was really good, I hope there's more, I Loved the New Orleans story line, it was wonderful and portrayed how it was not that long after Hurricane Katrina.
I would love to read more. Now I'm anxious to know what's going to happen with these two. And not to mention what's going on with Lisette's friend Desiree. There's so much left unanswered!
Very good story. You can never underestimate the power of someones love. The things one does to keep and hold onto is amazing. This Author did that and more in this story.
