An intrepid female reporter who covered Progressive and Socialist events from the 1910's to the 1940's. I was doing research on strikes, and she writes a particularly important chapter as a witness to the arrest and beating of women strikers and their children in Lawrence, MA, 1912. It's a famous piece. Overall, it's a good look at the life of an assertive reporter who was devoted to issues of women's rights and social justice.
