I am interested in helping the poor in Peru. As a Christian from an affluent nation and wanting to be helpful in ministering in an underdeveloped, I didn't know much about how the Christian church has been approached such ministry.

This 1997 book has 9 case studies of ministries in Latin America. It has articles about: a hospital and church-based development in Honduras, street ministries in Brazil, a soil conservation and church development in Nicaragua, community development in Colombia and Bolivia, and a cell group ministry in Peru --- all among the poor.

The emphasis is on holistic ministry: practical social action AND evangelism.

The critique at the end of the book was an honest evaluation about what has been good and bad in cross cultural ministry in these cases.
