I like to keep an open mind on spirituality, so I read books on the subject from time to time. This one is supposed to be a manual on fighting evil.

Regardless of whether you believe the spiritual message or not, Saraydarian says many things that make sense. He mentions the benefits of early education, self-discipline, personal responsibility, and the importance of careful thinking to mould subconscious processes, generate helpful motives and foster more helpful behaviour. He talks about the problems of endemic corruption, ignorant politicians, the arms race, the subtle poisonous brainwash of news and entertainment media, drugs and alcohol, materialism, unbridled lust and sexual misconduct, and cracked foundations of modern society that causes much of human activity to be guided by fear.

Yet this book comes with a lot of problems. Firstly, the author gets plenty of basic facts wrong: for example, he says crime statistics are on the increase, whereas when this book was published in the late 1990s, they were clearly on the wane, and far below that of recent decades. He says the Taj Mahal is a mosque (it’s not, it’s a mausoleum). He provides an incorrect mathematical formula for speed and talks about light years as if they refer to time (they don’t, they refer to distance). He believes hand-made rugs from third-world countries are superior to machine-woven carpets, ignoring the problem of child labour in that product chain. He claims that subliminal messages around us are constantly affecting our behaviour, microwave ovens cause heart disease, insanity and blindness are caused by AIDS, apes are the result of humans having sex with animals, and terrorism and genocide are caused by the Moon. He insists that these are scientific truths, but fails to provide one single reference to back up his assertions.

Secondly, his comments suggest he has no understanding of basic psychological processes, attributing dysfunctional behaviour to evil entities rather than problematic thinking.

Thirdly, a lot of his arguments are complete nonsense, with no logic to hold them together, contradicting himself, or veering off the topic entirely. He has a strong tendency towards oversimplification and overgeneralization, although he uses esoteric terms quite freely without explanation for the novice reader. Most examples feel contrived and invented for purposes of illustration, but they are presented as though they are fact, and he draws naïve conclusions, like a child who doesn’t really understand the world.

This book was written with the motivation to help, so it’s a pity that it’s such a mess. I can’t really recommend it and if this is representative of his work, I am unlikely to read any more by this author.

The Ultimate handbook for Psychic Self Defense. Read Obsession and Possession by the same author along with this and you'll know all about psychic attacks and dark forces. It also has chapters that can help you actively protect yourself from the dark forces. This is not a superstitious new age book on the subject of the Dark Forces. But a scientific one written from esoteric perspective. Students interested in Esoteric science, spirituality, occultism, mysticism, Theosophy, Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga will find valuable information in this books. Even general readers who want to become responsible citizens of society can use this book to better themselves.

Transformative

A book that every one has to read at least 10 times. I have highlighted almost the entire book as highlights and notes.

I will read this book again many more times.
