The Journey of the Little Souls

Rate this book
The journey of the little souls is a journey beyond our body to get a perspective of life from a greater distance. We are not just a body, we are energy. Divine energy that enters our bodies to make us alive. Our souls are seen here as little pieces of this energy. We are all little pieces of the same ocean of energy. We are all part of a big universal soul. Souls enter bodies with a purpose. In order to keep our bodies happy and healthy, it is essential to remember what we are and why we came here. We are all on our individual path. This book will accompany kids and parents on a few steps of their journeys. My intention with this series of books is to understand and to answer the questions about life from my two boys using my background as a licensed acupuncturist, diplomate of Oriental Medicine, biochemist and wife of a physicist who wrote his PhD thesis on the creation of the Universe. My philosophy is to preserve health rather than to cure disease. Therefore I would like to help inform parents and kids about the human being as a whole, going into the macroscopic as well as the microscopic levels of life, with the intention to help kids stay healthy and happy. The more kids know about their body, mind & soul, the better they can take care of themselves. Prevention starts at young age, which is why I decided make this information accessible for kids.

The Little Souls offers parents an opportunity to open up about the subject of a soul, dreams, thoughts, individualism, life, and death, all in language that is simple for little ones to understand. The images help children understand such complicated subject matter and the book itself has such a powerful effect on children. I recommend this book to the parents of kindergarteners I work with and I try to recommend it as often as I can.

The Journeys of the Little Souls takes a thoughtful trip through deep concepts. We talk about energy and souls, but these are intangible concepts that they may not grasp or have many questions. This book takes the time to talk about our whole self: mind, body, and spirit. It also opens the dialogue to talk about life, dreams, death, and our purpose in life.
I read this story with my 7-year old and did not anticipate her reaction. We had a heartfelt discussion about those we have lost recently and the possibility of our grandparents passing on. This book gave me the words to use that are simple enough to explain these complex ideas. By the end of our talk, she seemed to have more answers to questions she did not know how to ask.
The book is divided into 2 sections, and after the first section we needed a break to debrief. It is well written with the perfect pace for young listeners as well as bright and pleasant illustrations as visual aids to catch their eyes.

This little book attempts to answer the big questions about life: What is our origin? What is a soul? What happens when we die? What is one’s life purpose? These are important and commendable questions to ask; the answers inform who we are as human beings. On the About the Author page, it states: With a loving approach and scientific structure, Agnes’s series, Kids’ Questions about Life, is a crucial guide to the human being – body, mind, and soul – that is explained in your child’s own language. The approach is loving and embracing, and encourages children to explore the world—both the unseen and unseen. The author possesses clear knowledge about the subject and exhibits confidence in writing about the universe, the soul, and what happens after we die.

At first, I questioned using words like transformation and meditation for what seems to be a children’s book. I thought these words were too big for a young child to wrap their mind around. I wondered if the concepts of the soul and death were too deep to discuss with a child. But as I reflected on the purpose of this little book, I realized that it is the parent’s decision whether to discuss, or not, the deeper meanings of life and death that this book presents. For you who have been searching for the answers to the profound and meaningful questions of life and death your child is asking, The Little Souls just might be the book you’ve been looking for.

An added bonus of The Little Souls is the illustrations of the Bear Family, which are lovely and enchanting, and in a way, timeless. Since most of us grew up loving our Teddy Bears, the various characters of the Bear Family are very relatable. My favorite illustrations are Bear Family picnicking at the beach—I want to sit right down and enjoy munching a strawberry and listening to music with the Bear Family—and the one of the starbursts radiating from the Bears hearts—I want to live in such a way that my heart radiates light and love.
