The first edition of this guide appeared in 2003. With the increasing digitalization of information, the National Episcopal Historians & Archivists felt that it was necessary to update it. Thus this 2nd edition published this year. At the very beginning of this small booklet, its purpose & value is nicely summed up: "The content of this booklet is targeted more to a motivated volunteer from the pews of a congregation than it is for a trained archival professional...The attempt here is to provide for a general understanding of archival process that meets professional standards, but won't scare off a willing volunteer who may or may not have training or even access to such training..."
The booklet is step-by-step, very readable. Any church or small-scale organization can benefit from the suggested ideas or how to set up an archives.
