The glued joint in its various forms is in use in every country in the world, and is frequently met with in mummy cases and other examples of ancient woodwork. Alternative names under which it is known are the butt joint, the rubbed joint, the slipped joint, whilst in certain localities it is known as the slaped (pronounced slayped) joint.

My edition is listed as part of "The Woodworker Series", although I haven't gotten any of the other books. This is great since it has every joint I've ever seen plus a few that I haven't. Most of the latter are included for practice, not practical application, but still pretty cool. The joints are from framing all the way down to fine cabinetry, too.

About 2/3 of the way through, there is a section on making 3D puzzles using various joints. Very cool. I know what I'm going to start working on for Xmas presents!

Very little use without pictures or diagrams

I appreciate the work of the many volunteers who are preserving books like this for posterity by working to digitize them, but so many of these books are without crucial pictures and diagrams. Carpentry books especially need diagrams. Maybe some day somebody will be able to attach the missing "figures" referenced in the text. Until then this book is of little use to me.
