Jacob and Shadow are renowned exorcists. But when they encounter the strange phenomenon of consensual possession, they may be forced to put aside their indiscriminate demon-slaying and team up with an unlikely group to take down a bloodthirsty, all-powerful demon Hell-bent on conquering the world.
I can't really say this book is a book about good and evil, when the evil ones are also the good ones! This book was very fascinating. I don't really like books with religious aspects, because there are so many ways the readers can get offended. If you believe in God and the author writes bad things about God, well you're not going to like the book. If you don't believe in God and the author writes how amazing God is, yeah you get what I'm saying. However, Author Dodd did not do that. He wove the elements of religion into Sciaphobia nicely. There are so many unique characters. I really enjoyed Shadow storyline and the one that possessed him was wicked. I would have loved to read more of Shadows and Anna's relationship. So maybe there will be a second book?! All in all I enjoy this read. I finished it within 2 days. It really captivated my attention. If you like horror, action, mystery and a little love. This is your book. If you like storylines with a lot of blood and a crazy possessed woman hell bent on becoming God. This is your book. Five stars. Wonderful job.
An unusual horror/paranormal thriller dealing with the themes of demons, possession and how they fit into the monotheistic principle of heaven and hell, as we follow a group of ragtag exorcists with tremendous character as they reclaim the possessed. The side plot about these characters adds so much to the book, I hope there's a sequel.
A relatively short and intense paranormal thriller for fans of the genre, as much as I enjoyed it, it can be confusing to read but a list of characters and who is possessed by whom did help in understanding this off-beat read.
