There are two stories in one book. Both stories alone are really good. I especially liked Courting Ruth. However, if you read them back to back, it is distracting trying to keep the characters separated from the first story because many of the first and last names were reused. I suggest reading one story, then reading a couple of other books, and coming back for the second story. They are good stories.

Enjoyed the first book Courting Ruth by Emma Miller. I have number two and three in this “Hannah’s Daughters” series and this is book #1. Book two and three were much better. (Especially Anna’s Gift, book 3)
The second book in this 2 volume book was different for me. I’m not crazy about suspense and gruesome killings. I wish they would not have included this book as the second read. It was good if you like suspense. I took the advice of a person from previous review and didn’t read the second book straight away after the first because there were the same names in it. Totally unrelated to the first book. Totally different story. But it’s good to read something unrelated in between books 1 & 2. They were both worth reading. If you can get book 3 of Hannah’s Daughters, ANNA’S GIFT by Emma Miller, it was so good. I get tired of always reading the about the beautiful and slender girls. I love Anna. I love her inside and outside. I love that she isn’t the “typical “ character in a romance. These were all stand alone books.
