What happens in Vegas might stay in Vegas, but when an innocent woman is pinned with someone else’s lethal mistake, the bright lights of Sin City threaten to dim for good…
At seventeen, Lizzy’s first love swindled her out of a small fortune in lottery winnings, and her own small business—forcing her to strip to keep loan sharks at bay. That’s what led her to Vegas. Now she’s agreed to cater a Valentine's Day party for her friend and soon-to-be business partner, Duncan. What she doesn’t know is that the shy, wealthy tech wiz is secretly in love with her. Lizzy also doesn’t expect to be hauled in by the cops when the two of them are accused of murdering Duncan’s gold-digging (almost) ex-wife…
Lizzie should have learned the first time that mixing business with pleasure isn’t a good idea. For the record, she doesn’t sleep with friends. But as she and Duncan race to clear their names and find a killer, might they also discover they’re more than friends—just in time for the most romantic day of the year?....
“Sin on the Strip is as suspenseful and sexy as the title promises. Don’t miss this one.”--Cindy Gerard, New York Times bestselling author
“Lucy Farago has an eye for detail, a heart for romance, and a voice as layered as her plot and characters!” --Roxanne St. Claire, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author
Lucy Farago knows there is nothing like a happy sigh at the end of a good book. With the encouragement of her loving husband, she wrote her first manuscript. An unpublished historical, it sits in a file on her computer, there to remind her how much fun she had learning the craft and becoming part of an industry whose books make you believe anything is possible. A big fan of Agatha Christie, she set out to write her first romantic suspense novel. Thrilled to be a published author, Lucy also teaches yoga, enjoys cooking, and saying what other people are thinking. In her fantasy world, her beautiful Siberian husky, Loki, doesn’t shed and her three kids clean up after themselves . Alas, that fantasy will never see fruition.
*3.5 stars* This was a pretty good read. I think it's difficult to get a good suspense into a novella but the author did it well in this one. Duncan and Lizzy, friends and soon to be business partners, find themselves suspects in the recent death of Duncan's ex wife. As they try to find a way to clear their names, Duncan knows he'll do anything to keep Lizzy safe. Secretly in love with her for as long as he can remember, he hopes that this time they spend together will help her see him differently as well.

This is a short read and is part of a series of Woman in Vegas books. I think reading each of them helps the reader understand the story better, but I don’t think it’s necessary. It was inferred that characters that were mentioned in this book were characters from the previous book. The author gave enough information so that the reader can understand what happened before in order to understand what’s happening now.
This book is romance, but there are no sex scenes. I wanted to mention this, not as a criticism, because I enjoyed the book so much and I really didn’t think it needed the sex scenes. I wanted the reader to know that there were not going to be sex scenes so that they weren’t disappointed if they purchased the book expecting them. I personally think it would have hurt the character development if there were explicit scenes. Duncan is a very shy, private character and I think he preferred that the sex be inferred instead of described. He’s still a sexy as hell character.
Duncan refers to himself and the people he hires at his company as “shy introverts”, and while that is partly who he is, and he’s so cute (NOT in a puppy dog way), he also has this tenaciousness about him that won’t rest until all of his questions are answered and he’s satisfied. Lizzie called him “sweet, sometimes shy, oddly alpha when he needed to be, Duncan.” This phrase totally encapsulate who Duncan is and why I love his character so much.
Lizzie is just as sweet as Duncan and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She can be tough as nails when she needs to be, but she has empathy, compassion, a forgiving nature, and loves fiercely, loyally, and deeply.
Both Lizzie and Duncan don’t realize their worth to other people and both have insecurities that they need to work on and try and resolve. They are both loving, and generous and want to make who ever they are with happy. They both have made mistakes in their pasts, but they both know what those mistakes are, have learned from them, and are willing to move forward from those mistakes and start fresh. They really are made for each other.
I think this was a sweet book and I really enjoyed it. I hope the readers out there take a chance on this book and will give it a try. Duncan and Lizzie have a special place in my heart, I hope they leave one in the readers heart as well.
Sin and the Millionaire is a quick read that packs quite a punch for a novella. Duncan is the cute, hotly cute nerd with supreme shyness issues. He’s in the process of getting a divorce from a woman who married him only for what she could get out of him. He’s been in love with Lizzie for a while now, but hasn’t acted on it — yet.
Lizzie has known desperation and loss, but it hasn’t changed her core personality. When a now ex had taken her small lottery winnings and ruined her business she’d taken desperate measures to survive. But she had survived. Now she was a caterer and a good one, too. She and Duncan were about to become business partners.
When Duncan’s soon to be ex-wife is murdered, he and Lizzie are among the first persons of interest pulled in for questioning. Fortunately, they were each other’s alibi. But that doesn’t stop them from doing their own investigating – and getting closer to each other in the search for a killer.
Lizzie had mixed business and love together once with disastrous results. Now she’s realizing that Duncan is just as attracted to her as she is to him, and while that should scare her, oddly she feels safer than she ever has before.
I enjoyed Lizzie and Duncan’s adventure and their fall into love. Sin and the Millionaire is an enjoyable romance with a touch of suspense. It’s a story that is quick to read but long on entertainment. I’d definitely recommend it and the entire series.
*I received an e-ARC of Sin and the Millionaire from the publisher, Lyrical Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
3.5 stars Beautiful short novel. Very simple, very tasty, and most importantly enjoyable. I read it in like 2 hours and liked very much!! It is simple, with smart characters, nice plot and fast pace. Both main characters are to fall in love with. And I just love Lieutnant Cooper. I love this series!
I am a big mystery fan, and I looked forward to the story. This one was simply okay. I felt it needed a more distinct identity. Is it a mystery/suspense with romantic elements? Or is it a romance with some suspenseful elements? Even that being said, I would likely have given this a four if it did require closer editing. [Note: This book was not self-published. It came from Lyrical Press.] For example, on the back cover of the book, the heroine's name is spelled Lizzy and Lizzie. Which is it? Below are some of the other mistakes typical of the book. "More proud of him" should be "prouder" "an app we working on" should be "an app we are working on" "I was having affair" should be "I was having an affair" "better keep it to quiet" should be "better keep it quiet" "to genuinely care" is a split infinitive "You can tell to shove my nose" "about his any of his care" "that made Duncan give him her entire savings" "its just Andy" should be "it's" The font size changes on page 63. "him stealing from you" should be "his stealing" for one uses possessives before gerunds "than him being generous" should be "than his being generous" ETC.
Love story between computer nerd and beautiful girl in Vegas. Well, sort of... Duncan, computer nerd and Lizzy known each other and they were business partner as well except his soon to be ex wife was killed while they were having a party. Duncan thought he was in love when he married his model/actress but she married him for her career... Eventually, they were getting a divorce but she was unfortunately murdered and both were suspect. Lizzy had her own misfortune like Duncan. Her ex boyfriend used up all her winning and left her to defend herself by striping. After paying debt, she learned to cook and became caterer. Duncan and Lizzy were working together and they were ready to launch their business together when this happens.. They were trying to clear their name. Everyone was suspect... There were some twist and turns. Will Duncan profess his love and will Lizzy mix business and pleasure again??? I thought it was too short.. It had some great story lines far as murder plot and mystery but it just ended little too flat for me.. plus, it took me awhile to like Duncan and their relationship.. I wish there were little more.
I had read the first in this series and liked it. Even though Sin and the Millionaire by Lucy Farago seemed right much of a quicker read, I enjoyed it much more. From the beginning of this story I found the two main characters Lizzy and Duncan charmingly guileless in their relationship. Both had been hurt in the past but still believed the best about each other. How could you not root for these two to clear their names and find love with each other at the same time.
This is an author just coming into her stride. Despite the misleading name, Sin and the Millionaire is a delightful read; love not sin being the best.
