Reading a book published in 1964 in 2022 offers a fascinating perspective of the events that boiled up in the wake of the New Deal Era and Keyenism to lead to a hyper-capitalist, neoliberal society that we are suffering under these days. One of the more humorous elements of this book is how so many right wing organizations easily obtain corporate and religious funding since it allows these entities to retain the status quo and continue to have the working class happily siphon their own money their way, but despite their efforts many right wing efforts are quashed because they end up only attracting anti-Semites and ex-Klansmen. Seems to be the issue the likes of the GOP face today.

My criticism though is the book is way too dense and focuses too much on statistics of fundraising and personal affiliation. It’s own liberal, anti-communist tone really emphasizes the struggle democrats have with winning votes and support from the leftist bloc.
