The Witness of Your Wardrobe

Rate this book
Dr. John Bishop has more than three decades of experience as a pastor, evangelist, educator and Christian camp director. In all these fields he has been able to observe changes in Bible-believing churches. Standards of separation and holiness have diminished in several areas, and one of the most obvious is in the way Christians dress.
In The Witness of Your Wardrobe, Dr. and Mrs. Bishop take on a subject that is very emotional for many Christians, and they do so with grace and Christian love. While showing that outward apparel of a Christian is, indeed, a very important matter, they show scripturally that God's first concern is the way the inner man is "clothed." They are not laying down rules but are showing Bible principles that ill build a closer relationship with God. That relationship will affect in a positive way all areas of life, including the clothes a Christian chooses to wear.
The topic of clothing has been the subject of much comment from people of various backgrounds for a number of years. The Bishops present research showing the comments of several ladies, both Christian and secular, that reveal the importance of our clothing in sending a message to those with whom we come in contact. Added to this are the comments of several great preachers and Christian commentators of past years. They also deal with the inconsistency of some modern preachers who have compromised in this area.
The concepts of separation, modesty and purity have rapidly decayed in recent decades, and Dr. and Mrs. Bishop reveal historical event and influences that have played a large part in bringing about this decay. We are challenged to be salt and light in the world and resist the world's pull to compromise our testimony for our Saviour.
