Henri's War: A Buchenwald Holocaust Story
All these memories are still haunting me and I often get lost in day dreaming about the horrible past. Readers A powerful and detailed account and very chilling to the thought of human activity to other humans. Very gripping and hard to put down, a highly recommend book. A compelling read and an insight into mans inhumanity to man.it seems unbelievable today how one deranged lunatic in Berlin could cause such destruction and persuade people to act in such a barbaric fashion towards others. I found this to be a fascinating read. Recommended. From the Heart of a man. From the depths of Hell. A harrowing narration of the Worlds darkest hours. This book should be compulsory reading in Schools. We must never forget. Thank you for all of the amazing reviews and purchasing this eBook.

Powerful
This is a must read. The idea that an underground network operated in a concentration camp is astounding. The detail and will to survive took courage. This story will stay with me as I ponder the choices these men made to save as many as possible.

Very moving and detailed
I saw the book under one of my Kindle Unlimited recommended books. Curious, after I read another holocaust survivor book, I thought why not read this one as well? So I did and I'm glad I did.
The beginning of the book I find rather confusing. There wasn't enough background information about the author nor did I recall reading his name. I only read his name chapters later closer to the end. There wasn't much introduction about where and how he got to Belgium and his family background. This was the kind of information I long for in this type of books. I was dismayed. But the author's attention to detail and providing detailed descriptions of his experience and survival makes up for the lack of background information. I supposed, this was different from the book Night bye Eli Weisel that I read during high school, because this one is written by an adult survivor and hence why the life in Buchenwald is far more detailed, at least his experience, through his eyes. With details provided and well written, as a reader it seems to almost take me back to time and imagine their sufferings and made it heartfelt. I couldn't put the book down and I was determined to read it through.
Some of the people mentioned in the book made me curious and search for them if they too haven written a book themselves. Unfortunately they didn't and some interesting ones perished through the barbarous and inhumane ordeal. I was curious about what befell Emil Korlbach after the liberation and life after the war. The same with the author. I guess I was hoping to hear that at the end of their struggles for survival that they came to live a life, a life that they were able to go on after their long sufferings at the hands of the Nazis.
I am always thankful for survivors who shared their stories and written a book about it. I hoped that Jeno and his son Henri were reunited at the end of the war and able to rebuild their lives. I recommend this book and it would be a good addition for high school reading, so the kids may learn history and hopefully learn from it and never to repeat it.

An Amazing Story of Survival
This story is really a tale of survival by self discipline within Buchenwald. It is the story of the Buchenwald underground which managed to create a camaraderie among doomed men, thousands of whom survived because they cared for each other. The reader gets an insider's look at Buchenwald, which was a work camp rather than a death camp like Auschwitz. The author avoids graphic details so it is not a disturbing read. The one thing which confused me is that I thought the book would be about Henri, the author's boy, but aside from the first chapters,the boy is not in the story. This is a satisfying and inspiring story.

Despite the fact that so much has already been written about the holocaust, every time you read a new book you get to know some thing new about the horrors that the victims wet through. This autobiographical narration is from someone who fought, suffered but never gave up. He survived the concentration camp at Buchenwald through some luck and a lot of pluck.

Really a wonderfully written book of 1st hand prisoner s.
The atrocities that the Nazis committed with no regard for another life are really horrible. You almost can't believe what happened. We must remember this always so as not to repeat it.

An extremely articulate and devastating testimony of the Holocaust.
This was a very well written story of the Holocaust. Every word had me spellbound throughout the entire story and am sorry not as many people to read as they should.

I enjoyed this book because personal journals or histories of individuals living during world war 2 are such compelling stories. Every country was dramatically affected.

chilling
A chilling reminder. Detailed in such a way that you feel as if you lived through the author's story. While a lot of the story is hard to swallow, I feel like this book and many like it should be required reading for our young adults. Never again!

A heart wrenching tale of atrocities and courage.
This book deserves a 5 rating because it is written in an intense manner of a survivor of one of history's worst Holocausts.
I recommend this book be read by anyone interested in the atrocities of WWII and the Nazi régime.

Great book
I almost couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Very sad events but many brave men survived. I would highly recommend this book
