The spiritual benefits of memorizing verses of scripture are well articulated in this book. It gives several practical ways of committing to memory lovely and inspiring verses from the Bible. The author rightfully points out the importance of picking the right translation for memorizing. Once you memorize a verse it is likely to stay with you for the rest of your life. It is carrying the Word of God in your heart.
I really enjoyed this book. It gave me good insight into why I should memorize scripture and valuable information on ways to achieve that goal. The only problem I had with the book was that there are quite a few instances where the word a word is either misspelled or not completed. For example on Page 71 in the scripture John 14:6, in the second sentence, it says, "No one come to the Father except through me." It is a little mistake, but there should be an "s" on the end of come. Another example is the scripture Romans 1:16 ..."because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believers: ..." Again, just a typo error, I am sure. It should be "who believes." Believe me, I am no expert on grammar; however, when reading, these little errors interrupt the flow of the message. For me anyway! Being new to using e-books, this may just be a by-product of the format. Otherwise, I really did enjoy the book and consider it a Goodread!
In the first few pages of the book, it came of as condemnation. I don’t know the logistic structure if the Bible, however it has not taking away from my ability to read it and study the word. I think the tone establishes a you must do this, to get to this and it can be a turn off.
I did enjoy the comparison section. I prefer the NKJV to read but don’t recite scriptures with the Kings English dialect.
If a person has a relationship with God, that is where the interpretation of the word comes from.
If you are trying to get closer to the Lord and you are wanting to memorize scripture or God has called you to memorize scripture, then you should definitely read this book, plus there are some additional resources and the author gives you a free ebook to help you on your journey. God Bless.
